Waiting and watching for signs I found myself living between the line Confused caprice that I saw Interpretations of the law Once on the other side of the door I knew I could not be afraid anymore At first I fell Then I began to soar Moving away from the fold I found my way out in the icy cold A light in the land of the lost I warmed myself moving against the frost I kept a fire burning inside Kicking through ashes of those that have died Warmed by the truth Chilled by those who lied Sinking in an ocean Beneath the ice and snow I struggled with the darkness Waiting down below By the light of reason Brighter than the sun I’ll keep these shadows dancing Until this day Until this day is done I’m always searching for peace And happy to settle for some release And happy to settle for some release And happy to settle for some release

90 miles from America, Headed for the keys Trying to avoid officials, Hoping for a breeze Huddled close together they’re all singing songs of home Talking of the future, Tossed about like styrofoam They can’t see the dark skies, They are looking for the light They cannot feel the rainfall, Or the cold wind at night The raft of the Medusa , Slowly drifting towards the shore Fueled by desire, An ancient struggle to explore Another chance for freedom ( But we haven’t enough freedom) no tener bastante la libertad Casting hopes into the wind ( push against a bitter wind) trabajar hacia un amargo Praying for the new world ( the keepers of the new world) la regla de nuevo el mundo That may send them back again , what is left of them ( have the power to rescind) Haber la capacidad remover On The raft of the Medusa (la baba de medusa Now everyone is hungry and everyone is sore In the fading sunlight they are looking for the shore Out on the night horizon, They see the city lights Early tomorrow morning, Everything will be alright They won’t see the dark skies, They are looking for the light They cannot feel the rainfall, Or the cold wind at night The raft of the Medusa , Slowly drifts onto the shore Fueled by desire, An ancient struggle to explore Another chance for freedom ( But we haven’t enough freedom) no tener bastante la libertad Casting hopes into the wind ( push against a bitter wind) trabajar hacia un amargo Praying for the new world ( the keepers of the new world) la regla de nuevo el mundo That may send them back again , what is left for them ( have the power to rescind) Haber la capacidad remover On The raft of the Medusa (la baba de medusa She can hear her homeland crying out (y Se siente el grito de la patria)

Another drifter lost at sea Gonna let the ocean bury me gonna put my pain full fathom five And use one more of my nine lives Just one more of my nine lives Hand me down my favorite song I’m gonna sing it all night long The melody it spins and falls And echoes off these canyon walls Echoes off these canyon walls Deep and dark we’ll never know Safe and secret down below drifting down into the calm Thinking of a long lost psalm Upon the ocean there’s a storm Acts on me like chloroform Makes me sleepy makes me wise Beginning to philosophize Mmmm Another drifter lost at sea Gonna let the ocean bury me gonna drown my pain full fathom five And use one more of my nine lives Just one more of my nine lives Just one more of my nine lives Just one more of my nine lives Just one more of my nine lives Just one more of my nine lives Just one more of my nine lives Just one more of my nine lives

Working like a maniac Must of finally broke my back Found me laying in a heap I guess I need to get some sleep Suppose I should take a pill I can’t afford the doctor’s bill I’m gonna have to go through hell Find a way to get me well Can you understand my position I’ve been out of commission When I do the addition I need a poor man’s physician I don’t believe in superstition I don’t need a magician Until I’m back in remission I need a poor man’s physician I’m a poor man. Bills are coming every day Wish that they would go away People call me on the phone I pretend that I’m not home My friends they all been comin round To watch me laying on the ground Trying all of their advice Pains too bad to treat them nice I've been feeling obsolete Can’t wait to get on my feet I don’t need to see some quack To Monday morning quarterback A week of rest is all I need And maybe just a little weed Extra pain pills from a friend Get me through until the end

Don't try to guess at our dimensions Define them till we disappear No need to question my intentions I only want you near This is a simple situation Two flowers reaching for the sun In a garden of our own creation Where two can grow to one And never come undone What do you feel when you say you love me More than the words you've learned to say Speak to the sleeping child inside me Who has been dreaming of this day Don't come to love with reservations Feed your fear and it may walk away There is a price for hesitation We don't want to pay Let's look beyond our limitations Now that the planting has begun In a garden of our own creation Where two can grow to one And never come undone What do you feel when you say you love me More than the words you've learned to say Speak to the sleeping child inside me Who has been dreaming of this day Let's just run off on intuition Never thinking of an end Watch our love's seed come to fruition And our love will like the willow bend What do you feel when you say you love me More than the words you've learned to say Speak to the sleeping child inside me Who has been dreaming of this day

Washed up an ocean of sorrow today My feet are still dry but I feel the spray And on this new shoreline I watch the ballet I cannot close my eyes, I cannot turn away My feet in the sand and a voice from the brine Saying don't be afraid boy, the water is fine When destiny calls you don't question design Fall into the foam and fall into line Here on the beach is another voice too Telling me we've got to think this thing through Live in a lie or find out what's true I don't know what to say, I don't know what to do One person saying an eye for an eye Another is telling me give peace a try I don't understand the how or the why But I don't want to kill and I don't want to die Afraid of the water with nowhere to hide The beach was so warm I forgot the high tide Better learn how to swim 'cause it's time to decide The water is deep and the water is wide In the eye of the storm we had fallen asleep We dreampt of a shepherd who watches his sheep I pray that our souls are still ours to keep The water is cold and the water is deep Washed up an ocean of sorrow today I cannot close my eyes, I cannot turn away Kiss me and smile for me tell me that you'll wait for me Kiss me and smile for me Smile for me

No Tommorrow 04:06
Whatever your friends all say about me, it must be right It must be wrong for me to be here tonight Whatever you think you know about me it must be wrong Cause I'm right here where I don't belong, Right here when I know it's wrong We never will be Never will see that sorrow We never will grow never will know tomorrow There's no tomorrow Whenever you think about the love I would not take What would you give to make my heart break However you feel about the love I would not give I only take the love I need to live i've taken more than I can give and We never will be Never will see that sorrow We never will grow never will know tomorrow There's no tomorrow And today there is nothing that you can say about last night Nothing you can do to make it right We never will be Never will see that sorrow We never will grow never will know tomorrow There's no tomorrow Nothing you can do or say to make me turn around and stay Nothing here to mend or break, nothing you can give or take tomorrow There's no tomorrow

Even As We Live I need to believe in something I want it to be you A talisman I can hold on to Every step I’ve taken Every planted seed Takes me away from what I need No on ever told me Had to find out on my own Now it seems I've always known Even as we love we leave Even as we live we die Walking through this days dream Until the nightly rehearsal for the final goodbye Even as we take we need Even as we rise we fall And even though the lost will lead They're just trying to make some sense of it all I need a reminder of The places I come from So I can see what I’ve become What have I been leaving When we run to something new Whatever waits for me waits for you too No on ever told me Had to find out on my own Now it seems I've always known Even as we love we leave Even as we live we die Walking through this days dream Until the nightly rehearsal for the final goodbye Even as we take we need Even as we rise we fall And even though the lost will lead They're just trying to make some sense of it all It's not so bad It's not so lonely Don't be sad You're not the only one Who wonders what's to come Even as we love we leave Even as we live we die Walking through this days dream Until the nightly rehearsal for the final goodbye Even as we take we need Even as we rise we fall And even though the lost will lead They're just trying to make some sense of it all

The Grass is green My car is clean Looks like the cover of a magazine Let’s load ‘er up Take a drive Find a place to feel alive We’ve got nothing to do, Nowhere we need to be It’s been a long time since any of our time was free Come with me Back to the ocean we’ll run on the sand Having no plan is better than what we had planned We can visit the place we thought we’d outgrown Back to the ocean with our skipping stones You show your teeth But never smile Let your guard down for awhile Come with me Stay the night You’re still too young to be uptight We’ve got nothing to do, Nowhere we need to be It’s been a long time since any of our time was free Come with me Back to the ocean we’ll run on the sand Having no plan is better than what we had planned We can visit the place we thought we’d outgrown Back to the ocean with our skipping stones

about

The majority of this CD was recorded in 1999 and was to immediately follow 1998's "Deep Sky." Near completion of tracking, I had an opportunity to finish the CD and mix it with my friend Craig at Desmond Child's studio in Miami. What ended up happening is that Craig was busy with other projects and the mixes were put off repeatedly until 2002 when I moved to Nashville. I had a handful of rough mixes that I was unhappy with and a promise of finals in the next month or so. This got put off till Desmond closed the studio and moved everything to LA.
A couple years went by and I finally got hold of back-up tapes (restored at great pain by Mark Hornsby). Some of the data was missing. I re-recorded hours and hours of material that was missing and did the mixes to the best of my ability at the time. Some songs couldn't be restored enough and the rough mixes by Craig were used.
I wish I had a different story here but at the end of the day, I am 100% happy with the songwriting, some of my best. I am not as happy with the mixes as I was with "Deep Sky," they are also not as good as the mixes I am doing now, but this troublesome CD is a signpost on a journey that I hope will continue for years.
